| | Posted : 03 May 2024 - 14:16 Post title : My latest endeavor | | | So at the age of 60, my wife bought me a guitar for valentines day . I'm starting from the beginning, learning to read music, notes on strings, and chords. The theory of it seems simple enough but the brain doesn't soak it up like it used to and the fingers are a little stiffer these days ( also trigger finger on the left ring finger # 3 ). I'm taking lessons from a very patient 28 year old who is excited with all my questions. He keeps telling that I've just learned to stand up stop trying to run . I know you're wondering, it's a Fender Squire acoustic, some day a nice Strat. I know stop running .

I find it mind numbing and have just always played by ear. Too much work for what i've always played. (classic rock and pop) If you have gear questions tho, ask me anything. I've been modding guitars and amps since the 70s long before it was even easy to get parts. (today there is a never ending supply of anything imaginable) So i have a ridiculous amount of time spent building/modding tweaking. Acoustics to as i started on them as u are.

The whole theory of this thing is light years beyond me so I won't be Hughey Thomasson any time soon . The funny part is on my first lesson the instructor asked me " What song do you really want learn " and my reply was Green Grass and High Times, he said I don't recall that one but I'll look it up. 2nd. lesson I asked if he looked it up and he said " yeah.... we're not there yet " I do have to say my air guitar sounds a lot cleaner than my acoustic

I suspect real motorcycles are facing extinction, along with much of what we used to take for granted - like common sense and decency. We were fortunate to have been here before life turned into some sort of video game to be lived on a screen.

I blame digital technology in large part internet and cell phones. Before that all we knew about the human race is what we saw on tv and the real perversions of the man race were not allowed to be shown. Now we have every sick fuck on the planet posting videos of their perversions and we get to see just how sick humanity is. Death may be a welcome change at this point. (not looking forward to the moment of transition tho)

Then FB took control of our members here, only a handful of diehards left. I still promote the forum on Thunderbird FB pages but I think it's just too easy to ask for solutions on FB and not bother to do some brain work and search here. It would be interesting to see if the forum outlasts the other TB media way down the track when our bikes are collectables and people need answers. I will be long gone I think.

There is a wealth of info buried in this site from before the TB even touched pavement. The "official" website proved to be mostly useless early on, but TB1600 had the answers from real world experience. It's been a priceless asset for a decade now, saved my bacon countless times.
Lee, you're spot on. "Smart" phones are a leash. Did you know they issue location pings on a regular basis? Your phone's location (and by extension, you) is always known unless you actively take steps to defeat it - which may no longer be possible on new ones, I'm not sure. Mine is ancient, currently on its 3rd battery. Recently got a forced update despite having update function turned off. The more they promote privacy, the more you can be certain there is none. Meanwhile, here in California, I've had four power outages in under 24 hours. Stolen elections, counterfeit goods, endless scams, hard to keep track of all the nonsense.

Dunno Lee, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) didn't say. There were a rash of outages, 40K people in one, various locations around here. Old equipment? Reminds me of a line from the movie 2001: "Failure mode analysis."
