| | Posted : 15 Apr 2026 - 14:47 Post title : Gas prices? | | | Here in the former republic of California, gas is around $5.50/gal. In the north, $8US in the south, with state taxes accounting for a third or so. Guessing that's about half of what it costs in the UK and elsewhere, yes?

BTW: Posted this without any hypererrors - looks like our T-Bird home is all fixed and back to normal! Whoever revamped the site should take a victory lap.

Gone down about a buck since I posted that 2023 pic a few months ago, so we're back where we were then. Still too expensive.
To be fair, that photo was from a ride thru Bridgeport, one of those places in the middle of nowhere with a monopoly on prices, being as how it's miles away from any alternative. There's a place called Ludlow in the middle of the Mojave desert that might be even more expensive - next gas is 60 miles one way, 90 miles the other - haven't made that ride in awhile.

Diesel used to be half the price of gas, but now I think it's even more. Had to abandon my diesel motorcycle project....
