| Posted : 09 Jul 2011 - 07:37 Post title : Chopper S&S | | My son has been building choppers already for several years. This happened to his latest project some 200 miles from home riding to a chopper meeting and 40 miles to go.
He made his road side repair using duck tape and wire and some wood and did the remaining 40 miles. I??m just waiting for his report tomorrow how he will manage the ride home.

The "old boys" used to say, if it falls off, duck tape it back on.
If it's supposed to move spray it with WD 40.
Maybe a few of these would make a firmer repair.

Thats what I was thinking too, and it's strange there is such a clean break.
Glad he is OK and best of luck for the ride home.

When the tube was drawn down to a taper, I wonder if it was held at that point, thus creating a stress point, leading to metal fatigue.

I'm curious who made that springer. I was looking for some for my 73 Bonnie project. Lots of Chinese knock offs out there. they may be cheap but I wouldn't them with my life.

I wanted to know so i could specifically avoid them. Ultimately I just need to stop trying to find a good deal and just spend whatever it takes to get the quality I want. Or at the very least one that wont snap.

I guess I need to keep saving for the Zero Engineering springer I want.
