Ouch.... that must hurt:

DETROIT (AP) ??? Harley-Davidson is recalling about 308,000 motorcycles, most of them in the U.S., to fix a switch problem that can cause failure of the brake lights and possibly the rear brakes themselves.

...

The problem affects Touring, CVO Touring and Trike motorcycles from the 2009 through 2012 model years. They were built between June 6, 2008 and Sept. 16, 2011.
Harley says it will notify owners of the recall. Dealers will install a rear brake light switch kit free of charge.

...

The company also said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it expects the recall to cost $10 million to $12 million, which will be charged as an expense in the fourth quarter.

OUCH....
That's gotta hurt the share-holder ! ! !

Get one thing clear: I'm not bashing HD here - I'm just bringing to light that EVERY ONE - old and new - are prone to 'unwanted' circumstances... This 'circumstance' is NOT a small one - and has massive costs involved!
It's defiantly something HD didn't want after the fading sales of last year (here in Europe at least)...

To those involved - I hope it's a quick and smooth fix.

Leave the pork pies for now - get the sausage rolls while they're hot!

Oh they've had declining sales in the states as well. I do think they were up last quarter, but that might of just been up against the previous quarter or last year ... still down from where they need to be.

And no, no bashing. Our bird has had a few issues as well. The scope of that recall is really going to hurt though.

On one of the Rocket 3 forums, some are asking Triumph to recall Rocket 3's to have their ignitions switches changed.

The made a reference to the HD recall to put pressure on Triumph to do the same.
