They sound fantastic with some aftermarket pipes on, I followed one for 8 miles just to listen to it earlier this year on my GSX1400fe with no baffles in and the norton was still better.

I understand they are going to do an export model for the US - complete with backrest, leather panniers and ape hangers.

It's that little tubular black thingie right next to the front brake lever... twist it towards you to go, roll it back to stop.

Alright! That's better. And the chain wallet should be standard. Like you guys don't like Brando and McQueen. Cooler then Pierce Brosnan any day!

While I'd never want to do a string of 600+ miles days on this puppy, I can certainly imagine cruising it through Waikiki (making all the bikini girls wet), blasting it up the Pali Highway through the Nu'uanu Pali tunnel, down into Kailua, twisting it up the Kamehameha Highway (stopping for some Romy's fresh shrimp in Kahuku), parking at Sunset Beach while I cool off with some body-surfing (hauling my surfboard on the Commando would ruin the aerodynamics!), then rolling into Haleiwa for the best burger in the universe at Hua'Aina Burger. Then, it's a fast trip back to Waikiki on 99 south to the H1... park it gently in the garage of my luxury penthouse condo, grab a shower and then go have sex with my new girlfriend, Penelope Cruz.

Hey, a man can dream, can't he?

A man's dreams are his own... and not in the domain of the women in his life

Cafe racers haven't really been on my radar... they're all very pretty and all, but with all the other bikes out there, I didn't have an urge to have one in my garage. But this bike.... HOLY SHIT ON A STICK! I think I had a wet dream about it last night! The little wheels in my head have been turning and turning, trying to figure out how I can get one of my very own!

I wouldn't go so far as to call the cafe racer front wheel ugly, but the sport DOES look a sight more comfy with those full bars vs. the cafe's clip-ons. I would prefer the sport to have the inverted Ohlins front shock, though I wouldn't turn my nose up if the sport (as shown above) happened to materialize in my garage tomorrow!

Oh, and I think I like the sport's pipes a lot better, too.

A Side Note:
Gotta love the branded "Norton" rear stand, too

sport for me

in times of immense masculine angularity in a lot of modern bike design its refreshingly pure to see curvacious feminine form surface in such a desirable way. much could be argued nostalgic but much though to functional uncluttered necessity. whichever, the reflex to salvate is overwhelming

so pleased it not in blue and white

I really love the sports version. I had a '73 MkIIa Commando 850 about 10 years ago, which was a lovely bike. Mine was the last kick-start model before the girly electric start was introduced. Would dearly love another Norton.

Love these Nortons. So much so, that I was looking at getting one. With money not getting on well in banks I thought about putting it into one of these instead. Then it got me thinking that I should really be looking at a classic Norton or Triton - something I have grown very fond of in the past couple of years. Not sure what the depreciation value of the new ones is going to go like, but values of classics are pretty good and stable.

Mat, remember to get the best complete running example you can, a rebuils and quality spares can put the price up to more than a good example.
There is a chap who retores bike up the road and he has been commissioned to rebuid a bike which will be worth about £4k when done but it will cost over £6k to do, not a good investment in the short term.

Cheers - I have fallen into that trap before - spending more than the thing was worth - but that's love for you

I would want one to ride - but only local, I want a cafe but there is no way I could ride it for more that a couple of hours. So a good fully restored or well looked after bike is the way I would go.
