Despite being vertically challenged as they say, I tend to order Large shirts (so as to cover my "big guns" ya know). So given that my jacket is Large I went with XL for the rain gear. Got a bit freaked out though when I realized (after the new stuff arrived) that my old gear is just Medium. So, yeah jacket is a bit big n baggy but pants fit surprisingly well - so i am thinking it will do even if I happen to be wearing jeans and a mesh jacket instead of my heavier duty riding gear.
Question - Do you all order rain gear one size larger than your jackets or not?
Now if it would just rain so I could get out and ride! :)

Having said that I don't go for a bigger size in waterproof gear as it's usually baggy anyway and catches the wind more.

I don't find that to be the case. I always go a size up as I find that the inner mesh/other coated linings grab on the irregular areas (if wearing textiles the the shoulder, back, and elbow armour tend to be bulky high points) causing restrictied movement. I always hated having that stuff on ... if it's not comfortable it ruins the riding experience. That said ... any kind of riding is better than no riding.

I've gone a few hundred miles in the rain, with gear that was too big, and fighting the drag (no screen on the Storm) of the gear was quite exhausting. I can ride for 300-400miles without rain gear, and no problems. So I've gone down a size on my rain gear and it is MUCH better.
You do have to find that sweet spot between the rain gear being too small/restrictive over your normal gear, and being too big such that it creates more drag.
Ideally, get to a store with both minimal riding gear and max/cold weather gear, then try the rain gear over it. At least then you know which manufacturers and size charts will work best for you.

I always buy two piece stuff though.

It sounds like a solid choice, especially at that price. It's great that the pants fit well, even if the jacket is a bit baggy; that extra room can be handy for layering. As for sizing, I think it really depends on personal preference and the type of riding gear you typically wear underneath. Many riders do prefer to size up for rain gear to accommodate extra layers, so you're not alone in that approach. Hopefully, you'll get some rain soon so you can test it out on a ride—nothing like the thrill of riding in the rain with the right gear!
