Hi all,
long time no post but.......
I'm looking at a set of TORs to make the bike sound a bit less like an electric carving knife. I did have a set of TORs on my Bonnie many years ago and loved them but as I'm a little older (and just a tiny bit wiser) I'm wondering what the implications would be if I got stopped by plod or had a crunch and needed to claim on the insurance?
Yeah I know, an old git but it's just something I'm a little concerned about.
All and any comments welcome - ta!

I think it's going to depend a lot on local laws, but I can say that the TORS are not all THAT loud. Here in Massachusetts, USA, I've been pulled over twice and it's never been an issue. Passed two inspections with them on, and after a wreck, looks like the insurance is probably going to pay for them. Not that that information is much help for you in the UK, so hopefully someone more local will chime in as well.

I have BC Hog Slayers and also been pulled over but not for the exhaust. No problems I like them

we have a noose law in Alberta Canada, 92db at 3krpm and never an issue, plus the T-Birds just are not tha noisy even with a louder pipe until you are really on them anyways. TORS should be fine.

Never had a problem - even with the MOT. I did get stopped on the Swiss border and he had a look at them but let me pass on through and those fkers are anal about loud noises in their country.

My first natural instinct is to breathe. My second is to evade tax's.

As one of the proponents of the 'LOUD PIPES SAVES LIVES' group I always fit after market cans and have never had a problem with the Feds or the MOT guys. I always rip the baffles out as well if I get the chance. BTW the short TORS aren't very loud anyway.

My experience is that as long as you're not acting like a complete twat and not being totally irresponsible ... you're generally left alone.

Oh yeah! Always tell the insurance company or you could be exposed to void cover.

I'm with Swagger on this. Over the last 5 years or so the police have changed their attitude a lot. Small number plates dark visors and loud exhausts are tolerated as long as you ride responsibly. Start riding like an idiot and they will stop you then these other bits will be raised, if they have to raise paperwork for something serious then a few extras is worth the effort. I had short TORs on mine for three years and had no problems at all.
