In march of this year I found a great deal on a 2010 Blue and White 1700 and pulled the trigger even though it wasn't a color I particularly cared for. I eventually found a red marble tank and side covers but couldn't find a decent deal on the fenders. I took my tank into a local Painters Supply company and he did a custom color match of the top of the red marble tank. I had the guy that painted my fenders put several more coats of clear on the factory parts as per the advice of someone on here, and then I topped it off with new LT badges (much better than the stock TB badges). I really like the way it turned out. I know the ape hangers I put on there aren't everybody's taste but I like the way they look and they sure are comfortable. Better pictures are to come but I took these as soon as I got the parts back on it before i put the old saggy bags back on.

Nice job, Ryan!
I (for one) would like to hear more about your handlebars and grips, they look pretty close to what I had in mind. Those are the stock risers (right?) which means you can lift the tank and use factory rubber mounts. All good! Please let me know details.

BTW: In order to properly qualify as "apehangers" grips have to be even with, or above, your shoulders. (Technically illegal here in CA.) On this site, seems like everything that isn't stock is referred to as "apehangers" tho these clearly are not. I like 'em! So there! ;-)

Does look good. What's going on in the midst of those hangers?

MotorMac, Thanks for the compliments. I really do not know much about the handlebars, a buddy of mine gave them to me after he took them off of a '97 sportster he bought. I did use the stock risers, and all the factory mounts are still in place. All of the cables we able to be rerouted to be long enough save for the brake cable which I had fabricated locally.

The grips are a set of Avon Metric Touring grips Link that I put on after my heated grips failed. I did go back with heat demons grip heaters Link which I was leery about at first seeing as they are installed inside the handle bars but they work great.

Thanks for the info about what actual "apehangers" are. I agree with you, I like em!

Swagger, they are a set of cheap speakers that I put on the bike for longer trips. Ugly for sure but I like having some music every now and then.
